DESIGN HISTORY
There is a path before each person that seems right, but it ends in death.
Laughter can conceal a heavy heart, but when the laughter ends, the grief remains.
The Futility of Pleasure
I said to myself, “Come now, I will test you with pleasure; enjoy what is good!” But it proved to be futile.
I said of laughter, “It is folly,” and of pleasure, “What does it accomplish?”
I sought to cheer my body with wine and to embrace folly—my mind still guiding me with wisdom—until I could see what was worthwhile for men to do under heaven during the few days of their lives.
I expanded my pursuits. I built houses and planted vineyards for myself.
I made gardens and parks for myself, where I planted all kinds of fruit trees.
I built reservoirs to water my groves of flourishing trees.
I acquired menservants and maidservants, and servants were born in my house. I also owned more herds and flocks than anyone in Jerusalem before me, and I accumulated for myself silver and gold and the treasure of kings and provinces. I gathered to myself male and female singers, and the delights of the sons of men—many concubines.
So I became great and surpassed all in Jerusalem who had preceded me, and my wisdom remained with me.
Anything my eyes desired, I did not deny myself. I refused my heart no pleasure. For my heart took delight in all my work, and this was the reward for all my labor.
Yet when I considered all the works that my hands had accomplished and what I had toiled to achieve, I found everything to be futile, a pursuit of the wind; there was nothing to be gained under the sun.
A feast is made for laughter, wine makes life merry, and money is the answer for everything.
African Proverb: Laughter is a language everyone understands
Meaning: There is no such thing as laughing in a certain language. We speak different languages but we all laugh in one language. Therefore laughter needs no interpreter to translate. It is simply a universal language. Laughter offers medicinal benefits. In fact, according to “Dr. Lee Berk, an associate professor at Loma Linda University in California who has spent nearly three decades studying the ways the aftershocks of a good laugh ripple through your brain and body,” laughter “may even compare to a proper diet and exercise when it comes to keeping you healthy and disease free.” (TimeMagazine,2015). In other words, you may want to add laughing more to your To-Do list to improve your health. Laughter reduces stress hormones, relieves pain, and helps boost our immune system. A good sense of humor is a sign of strength. “Laughing is the best medicine, but if you laugh for no reason, you need medics”. You cannot make a joke of everything or laugh for no reason. Be dignified!
Laughter is good for the soul. It affects all aspects of our being: social , spiritual , mental, physical and emotional. Socially, laughing connects us, helps to defuse conflicts and brings us closer. It underscores the fact that we are human. Physically, laughing helps to lower blood pressure, reduces stress hormones, and puts our muscles at ease. Spiritually, being able to laugh at yourself is sign of humility. And if you can laugh at yourself, you forgive yourself, and forgive others. Mentally, our brain works better when we laugh. When we laugh, our brain releases hormones which stimulate learning and memorization. That’s why you easily remember jokes. Emotionally, it helps to relieve pain and diffuse anger. In summary, laughter makes us happier, healthier and productive. With all these benefits, it stands to reason that a day without laughter is a wasted day. But as important as laughter is, there is time and place for it. We cannot laugh about any and everything or for no reason. As someone put it succinctly, “Laughter is the best medicine, but if you laugh for no reason, you need medicine”. Be reasonable!
Proverbs:
If one didn't laugh, one would have to cry.
The antics of a market buffoon provide laughter, but nobody prays that his child becomes the market buffoon.
Laughter does wonders for the heart.
The greatest death is laughter.
Laughter without reason, is either crazy or stupid.
Money has the capability of making people laugh; but when they laugh, the foolish ones sometimes forget to close their mouths.
Laugh and everyone sees it, cries and no one sees it.
Laughter is the best medicine.
